A personal computer (PC) is connected to the MUT-III unit and serves as the system’s control terminal, communicating with a vehicle ECU through the Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI). In addition to handling all diagnostic functions covered by the conventional MUT-II tester, the MUT-III system can display data as easy-to-understand diagrams and graphs on the PC’s large screen. Unlike the MUT-II, the MUT-III can store data for all vehicles, from older to newer models, in the PC’s hard disk, categorized by destination. This eliminates the time-consuming but necessary task of switching data lists (communication protocol data and diagnosis item list database) by replacing ROM packs based on vehicle model and year.

New PC-based functions are also being developed to enhance usability. For example, the workshop manual viewer is a useful function for mechanics, allowing them to access repair manuals digitally instead of carrying around bulky books. This feature, currently available for select vehicle models, enables users to retrieve failure code pages for specific issues with the push of a button.

The MUT-III PC software supports the following languages:
